Process

Up to almost 17,000 words in Hobgoblin! By way of an entirely new-to-me process. I’m rewriting it from scratch–except not. I’ve built a more or less new plot, with the same characters, and a slightly different situation; so it was too dissimilar to just edit what I had; but a lot of what’s already written is proving to be very useful building blocks for the new story.

So the process is, I have both files open at once; I write along, then when I get to a scene I know I was reasonably happy with in the previous version, I go and paste it from the old version, edit (sometimes heavily), and away I go.

It’s working very well. If only I could do nothing but write for the next month or two, I’d have this done in no time! 🙂

In other news: orchid.
