Process

I’ve been having some issues with my kids lately. I try to be strict when I have to, and they know I’ll get serious from time to time, but I’m simply not feeling like their motivated to learn. This teaching from home situation is not going as well as planned. Perhaps my kids like the social aspect of going to school, so they have a hard time paying attention to me. On the other hand, what if I’m doing something wrong? I can’t tell.

So with our current situation we’re stuck with, I’m left to fend for myself. They say kids can smell the fear!! In all seriousness though, they can tell when you have doubts or are unsure. Oh boy can they tell, and let me tell you, if they get that feeling and they’re not doing something they deem fun or worthwhile they will immediately and forcibly disengage. It’s a bit disheartening, but I may have to throw in the towel on this one.

This of course, doesn’t mean they get to skip school until schools reopen, but rather that I will have to leave things in the capable hands of professionals. I have contacted an online math tutoring service, and after a few over the phone questions we may have found someone well up to the task. She’s fully capable and experienced in handling kids in this age range, so I think all that will be left for me is look for the results! I’ll help them with their homework if need be. That’s right, I asked her to assign homework to them- I’m serious about making up for lost time. I’ll let you guys know how things progress, in case some of this may apply to you.

Everybody: tell me your process!
