Back to the Island

Well it was a nice little time off! We enjoyed the Hobbit movie, though we had a few quibbles, because nothing’s perfect, right? But it was good to get away, and see J&J, and eat sushi. We also did a little Costco shopping, because that’s what island people do when they go to the mainland.

The weather is being VERY VERY WINDY in this part of the world. Trees down, branches everywhere, surf where there usually isn’t any. We got back to the island early this morning, not knowing quite what we would find; the yard was pretty good, but then this afternoon the wind picked up again. Branches were flung at the windows, but nothing broke. There’s a constant tapping at the door like someone’s there.

In town, the local newspaper informs me, a lady drove her car into the market:

Market Crash

And, after being gone not even a full day, the inn was VERY cold. But we’ve got a fire going now, and it’s quite cozy.

Yesterday on the ferry to Anacortes, we passed this tiny little tug:

hauling all these logs:

Meanwhile, we are both working like fierce working beasties! I’m copying a freelance job as we speak, ready to send it in tomorrow; another is on the dining room table, nearly done; five or six more are piled on the desk behind me. Whee?
