Dumpster Diving

We went dumpster diving at the marble-and-granite store today, filling up the car with scraps of gorgeous stone, since we used up most of the previous dive’s supply with Mark’s gardening this week.

We got quite a haul–they had this marvelous reddish marble which will make a lovely path, some day. Plus a whole bunch of other stuff. (Picture only shows part of what we found.)
Marble Haul

I was particularly excited to find two slabs of marble that were perfectly sized to make pastry-stones. (I lost my old one in the divorce.) I cleaned them up, and affixed little rubber feet to them, and would be ready to make a lemon tart if we weren’t kinda-sorta dieting.

(Okay, they’re not QUITE as fancy as the ones you can buy at Williams-Sonoma, but you can’t argue with the price.)

And then, despite the kinda-sorta dieting, we went out with Miss H. and ate an ENORMOUS amount of exquisite Japanese food at Bamboo. Oh wow yum wow.

All of which is to say that Mark didn’t actually go home today; he’s leaving tomorrow instead. Oh, woe and darn. 🙂

Anyway…good day! I’m sooooo full now. Tired, too. Dumpster-diving for granite and marble in 90-plus-degree weather is…taxing.
