I Might Still Be A Writer

So, yes, the discombobulation as of late.

Even so! Q&T has come out of its packing-crate and been spread upon my desk, days ago; and the file was opened up on the computer yesterday; and today–today!–not only did I read through all 16 single-spaced pages of the world-building work Mark and I did months ago, and not only did I then read through all the work I’d done to date on the revision, I also actually wrote a few lines! Like, almost half a page!

Yeah. Actually, this feels like huge progress. When I left it, months ago, I had no idea what happened next (in a micro sense); now, I have a scene started, and I know where it’s going. Also, more basically, I’ve got the story and the world and the characters back in mind.

I worked all afternoon and part of the evening on this, after an EPIC bout of delaying-tactic behavior. Let me just say, this inn, it is clean. Well, except for our bathroom. Even I have limits.

In news of Mark’s father: today was a day of some steps forward and some steps back. It is all still very unclear, including whether Mark will be able to come ‘home’ for Thanksgiving. I am still hopeful, but, we will see. My family all starts heading north tomorrow; they’ll stay in Anacortes tomorrow night and come over on a mid-day ferry Wednesday. I am so excited to see them all! And to show them this lovely place. And just to hang out and visit in general. It’s been too long; the world is too big.

As for now, I feel exhausted, and triumphant, and accomplished, and ready to zone out with a good book, that somebody else wrote.
