In Today’s Gardening News

We have a problem with squirrels, as I may have mentioned. The problem is our next-door neighbor, who has a dozen or more squirrel-feeders in his yard. Night and day, you can hear the little jerks (the squirrels, that is; the neighbor, aside from this glaring flaw, seems perfectly nice) getting peanuts out of the feeder, then trotting over to our yard to dig up everything we’ve planted, so they can plant peanuts there.

Today I planted some morning-glory seeds. But lo! I am prepared.
Take THAT, Squirrels!

Pretty neat huh? This way plants can grow without the squirrels getting to them. Well, that’s the idea anyway. I got it from doing some online research, we will have to wait and see how effective it is. The other suggestion was to take on some organic greenhouse production, which I hadn’t considered so far. A nice little greenhouse in our backyard sounds like it could be a lot of fun! There’s some things I could grow in there I couldn’t otherwise, so I think I just might take the project on. Some pics of our progress in the coming posts, perhaps.

Also, Mark finished populating the flower-spike portion of the new deck.

It’s starting to look pretty great around here!

In book news: yes, book is coming along…..little…by little…by little….
